Meet Chris, owner of bakernobakery.
Christina Martin, or Chris, is the baker and owner of bakernobakery LLC, a popup panadería based in Charlottesville, VA. This home based panadería focuses on Latine and hispanic desserts and pan dulce, bridging international techniques through Virginian lenses, utilizing locally milled flour, eggs from her backyard, local produce, and garden grown herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Bakernobakery is a woman-owned, queer-owned, and hispanic-owned popup panadería that operates in a residential basement, with a max capacity of 700+ items per week.
Chris typically sells at popups in and around Charlottesville and sometimes Chicago, offering pre-orders for folks who want to make sure they snag all of their favorite pastries. Her broader culinary work has earned media features in En Forme Magazine, Edible Blue Ridge, and the James Beard Foundation’s “Queer All Year” series.
She can be found running her catering operation focusing on the University of Virginia, decorating tres leches cakes with flowers from her garden, developing her USDA/NRCS certified urban farm, coordinating local queer markets and volunteering with Charlottesville Pride to coordinate vendors for the festival, going on food photography side quests, and consulting on social media strategy for local businesses.
Chris is also an ambassador for CHOW, a nonprofit focused on Culinary Hospitality Outreach Wellness that connects industry professionals and veterans with mental health care and peer-driven meetings.
